About Chuck Horning
Chuck Horning is a respected businessman and leader in the realms of property management, real estate, and environmental restoration of properties. On his California ranches, Chuck Horning takes various steps and measures in an attempt to bring the property back to a more natural state, including restoring damaged stream banks, nourishing and cultivating the soil, and preventing further erosion of the soil from occurring. Chuck Horning also plants more than 1,000 various trees and other flora on his California and Hawaii properties annually, including black oak, valley oak, cedar, ponderosa pines, golden bamboo, and coconut plants. Following the lead of his father, Chuck Horning compiles data that points to modern agriculture's depletion of nutrients in the soil and subsequently in harvested crops as a factor in the spread of diseases across America and elsewhere.
In 2003, Chuck Horning acquired the property of Telluride Ski & Golf Resort, to which he instantly began to make major changes in management. As owner of Telluride Ski & Golf Resort, Chuck Horning proposed to extend the ski resort's season so that it could successfully compete with regional competitors. As well as contributing his business expertise and keen eye for improvement, Chuck Horning gauges the effects of his business venture on the wilderness and wildlife surrounding Telluride, and by doing so further establishes himself as a responsible and practical leader.
Chuck Horning achieved his Bachelor of Arts in Business at Pacific Union College in 1966, although his long and fruitful career has led him down many unconventional paths to business success. In 2004, the educational sector of Audubon International recognized Chuck Horning's attempts to respect the natural beauty surrounding his Telluride Ski & Golf Resort facility, and awarded the Telluride Golf Club with the designation of “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.”
