A native to the northern Sierra Nevada foothills, entrepreneur Chuck Horning possesses a wealth of experience building and managing health-care and hospitality facilities. While many of his properties have sold to date, Chuck Horning remains an owner of Telluride Ski and Golf Resort in Colorado.
For its third consecutive year, Telluride Ski and Golf Resort was named Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Award winner in 2014. The accolade comes as no surprise, given that SKI Magazine readers voted the resort the best in overall satisfaction, character, scenery, and sustainability for 2015. In addition, Telluride made the number-four spot on SKI’s Top-Ranked Western Ski Resorts. Other achievements garnered by the establishment include recognition as Best Ski Area in North America by Conde Nast Traveler and as one of the Top 10 Most Scenic Ski Resorts in the World by USA Today.
In operation since 1972, Telluride Ski and Golf Resort had humble beginnings with five lifts, a ski school, and a bus transit system that shuttled skiers from nearby towns to the resort. Today, the venue offers 18 lifts--one of which provides direct access from town--and more than 2,000 acres of skiable terrain. Guests can also enjoy trekking along one of the resort's 127 trails, which range from beginner to expert levels of difficulty.
